We took Ambrie to get her haircut today at the beauty school! It was so much fun! She sat there quiet and still almost the whole time! I really think she enjoyed being pampered:) Tonight I painted her toenails- I LOVE having a little girl!

The fun doesnt stop
I've been in the hospital for the week having my vitals checked every 2-4 hours to make sure there are no infections.
So i am suppose to go home on monday and my mom called tonight to tell us that Ambrie has hand-foot-and mouth which is very contagious and exactly what im suppose to avoid. We will talk to the dr tomorrow to find out if i will have to stay away from my house after i get out.
Its time for the nightly snack of liquids in a bag, ill update again once we find out what the next problem is going to be.

Fun at the ICU in Salt Lake City
Its been a while since we have posted, everything has been crazy and busy but this week i have plenty of time so i guess i should update everyone.
(warning, its a long post with lots of fun details )
We haven't been out of town for a while so we finally decided to go last weekend for Jenny's Grandpas birthday and so that we could do a little shopping. Jens grandpa has a long time friend that is a gastroenterologist that said he could fit me in to do a scope down my throat to see why i cant take pills and choke often.
So we arrived at his office and i went in for the scope at 10:00, its a 15 minute procedure where i had an iv and was put out so he could scope my throat and then stretch it if needed. At around 4:00 that day i woke up in the ICU at Salt Lake Regional hospital laying in a bed with my pants off and a nurse holding a rubber tube like what i used to make slingshots in middle school....although that’s not what this one was for. ( too much information, but that's what you get when i write the updates instead of Jen :) A minute later i was throwing up blood and trying to figure out what happened.
Apparently after the dr scoped my throat as he was coming out he saw blood so he pulled the scope out and waited for a few minutes to see if it would stop. When he went back in he found that it was still bleeding meaning there was a small tear or hole caused by the scope and so i had to go to the hospital quickly to find out how serious it was. The Office is in the same parking lot as the hospital so they wheeled me over to the hospital, and had me drink something, then performed a catscan. From the scan they could see that there was air in my body showing that there is a leak from my esophagus. Luckily it was small enough that it didn’t continue bleeding and they couldn’t see the hole on the scan, so they didn’t need to do surgery at the time. Because a hole in that location carries a big risk of infection they had me go to the ICU to be checked constantly for any signs of infection or bleeding and that’s where I woke up.
After reading about it later we found that the chance of having a tear or hole made by a scope is somewhere around .1%-.01%. The condition I have apparently makes it easier to tear when being scoped, and stretching my throat would not help the condition and has a higher chance of ripping. We will figure out if there is anything we will do about the problem later.
So I was in the ICU for two days and will be in a normal hospital room for 6 days as long as everything goes well. I cant have anything go down my esophagus , even spit, so I have been fed through an iv and then later a picc line for 5 days now. I dream of eating hamburgers and chocolate now! So that’s our week, hopefully next week will get better.

What a crazy weekend!
Soooooo we went to Ikea in Salt Lake to get our cabinets this weekend- and it was an experience! We had several "situations".
First being a gas problem- We were driving along (well I guess I should say I was driving) and for some odd reason the gas pedal would not work!!! I got the car to the side and Derik (the smarter of the two of us at the time apparently) informed me we were out of gas. The place we picked to break down happened to be in an area without a gas station for quite some miles- it was around Willard Bay. Derik ended up walking/running several miles until an awesome family offered to help him- gave him gas they had and brought him back to our car and wouldnt take money- the guy is a saint and we are so blessed that there are people like that! I believe in Kharma and I am reminded how important it is to help others.
Our second situation was with Dax- he kept us up the first night we were there complaining about his ear. We thought he was trying to get out of sleeping until the next afternoon he woke up with it draining and swollen- I called the night nurse of our doctors office and she said to take him in- it happened to be really late, so we had to take him into the ER. He has an ear infection but they are still worried about it so we are going to take him to his ear doc here. I felt so bad for him!
The finale came when we were at Ikea. We had finally gotten our cabinets (once we told them what we wanted it took 2 hours for them to pull everything) and we went to get ours cars moved up to the stalls to load. Well I put Dax in his seat and put some papers and the key on the front seat so I wouldnt have to dig in my never ending purse. I shut the door and for some reason the car locked- I didnt press any buttons so I have no idea why this happened- but it locked the kids in the car. Dax was upset and Brie was laughing- I just couldnt believe this was happening! We called the police and he unlooked in seconds! Thank you Draper police! So our excitement comes n 3's I guess!
We did have a pretty good weekend- the kids traveled a lot better this time-better than usual. It was fun to see my Grandpa and his beautiful flowers he has planted! I will have to load pics! I admire my grandpa so much- he has done so well the past couple of years- cooking, cleaning, and being active.
We are going to move this week and we have a ton to do! Its overwhelming, but exciting! Its so nice to have a house where we can help ourselves for once! I am so excitied Dax and Brie will each have a room! Dax already loves to be there- so I hope its an easy transition. I will post next week and tell how it goes!

So it's been a while!
Wow. I need to get with the program! We have been busy! Since December we have:
- Bought a house- it's a duplex and we are currently renovating the bottom so we can live in it and rent out the top. It has been a huge project and we will be so happy to have it done! Then we will have to move again- so glad I am not pregnant this time!
- I ventured into the toy business- I sell Melissa and Doug Toy's at the family business- El-Genes. I wanted to be able to have Toys around here that were fun and educational for my kids- the line is awesome!
- Trying to make changes at El-Genes- little by little. I am really proud of Derik and all that he is doing- He has a heavy load right now! He is an awesome Dad and husband- I am so grateful!
- We are still apartment managers until we move. I am excited to have more privacy and room for the kids, but I will miss managing to- we have some awesome guys and girls!
- Dax is talking up a storm and we be starting preschool in the fall- I can't believe it! I remember holding him as anewborn while he was screaming his head off just yesterday! It's neat to see how he now thinks about things- he isnt just rambling off vocabulary any more.
-Ambrie is such a cute girl! She is very determined and now climbs on everything- tables, chairs, you name it she will try it! She is starting to walk- but she would rather run- I think that will be how she is as she grows up! She loves to blow kisses now and says momma bye and hi! She loves to follow Dax around and wants what he has!
That is a little update! Here are a couple of pics that were taken around Easter- I will post some more current pics soon!

Crawlin!!!
Wow. Time goes quick! Today Brie started to crawl! I am really sad she is growing so fast. She is such a good baby- very happy and content (Very unlike her big brother!). I wish she could stay little and sweet forever! It's funny how you think differently with each kid. With Dax, we were like Yes! He is crawling! With Ambrie, it's like NO! NO! NO! That means you eat more things, and you are closer to walking, so I will have to soon chase you! (I think its similar to wanting twins as your first kids- what on earth was I thinkinking with that wish!) Brie is a very determined little girl- if she wants something she will do whatever it takes to get it! Like if she sees something on the floor, she rolls until she gets it! She has a stronger personality every day!
Dax is doing pretty well- he is also getting a bigger personality with more words! Everything is "mine" and we are supposed to give him everything he wants! The other night Derik went to put him down for nighttime, and he read the usual 3 books- well Dax always wants more so we make sure there are only 3 books around! Dax got ahead of Derik this time, and when Derik was done with the third, Dax got a huge grin on his face and proceeded to pull out a 4th book from under his pillow! He was so impressed he had thought of that!
Derik and I are pluggin along.......we just had checkout time it was horrible. We will just say most of these guys think cleaning invloves water and paper towles! We are statring to look around and find a place of our own!
